Want to be a HGV or Bus Driver? Then you need Driver CPC Training.

To become a Bus, Coach or HGV driver, you need to have a Full Car License, Be over 18 years old and then get your Professional Driving qualification; the Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC).

Training is important in every role, but when you drive professionally, you should train professionally and Advantage One’s Training Academy provides an extremely professional environment in which we deliver our Courses.

Your Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) qualification lasts for 5 years. To keep your Driver CPC you need to do 35 hours of training before your 5-year deadline.

It’s up to you when you take the training courses, as long as you do them within the 5-year period. 


Is a non-profit organisation that was founded in 2007 to help the Competent Authorities (the DVSA in the United Kingdom and the DVA in Northern Ireland) manage the application process and quality assurance programme for the periodic training component of the ‘The Vehicle Drivers (Certificates of Professional Competence) Regulations 2007’.

Advantage One’s Training Academy allows you to choose from a range of options, whether you need a full 5 day course of Periodic Training (35hrs), covering 5 years, or your single day Annual Training (7hrs), based on 1 day each year over 5 years; both providing a total of 35 hours Periodic Training every 5 years.

You can be fined up to £1,000 for driving professionally without a Driver CPC.
